My poor N

My dog, N, has really bad allergies. Both food and environmental. This past fall they were really bad so over the winter I took him to a dermatologist at one of the specialty VCA clinics around here and he is now on allergy injections and a strict diet, which do help a lot. But today, poor N is having a very bad reaction in his lip.

I got up this morning, let the dogs out, and he was rubbing his face against the fence. I thought, this is odd even for him. So I called him over and looked at his face, his lip was all swollen and red and gross. My friend L who is a vet tech was over, so I had her take a look and she thought it was a spider bite, so I gave him some prednisone and took him to the barn teaching with me. Well it then started oozing yellow gunk so when I got home I called the vet and I love my vet's office as they said, come on down.

So I packed J, N and I up and down to the vets we went. We were seen right away by one of the vets I like who unfortunately for me his last day is Thurs as he is moving to the South, and he said he didn't think it was a spider bite but just a bad infection caused by his allergies as his skin in his face was all red and he has conjunctivitis Again! (the dog seems to have it always, no matter how many times I treat it)

A steriod injection, 2 types of antibiotics and 97 less dollars later, we were back heading home. Now N is very tired and says that his mouth still itches, but less than it did before. Poor guy.
